Sony Data Breach Litigation
United States District Court for the Central District of California
Case No. 2:14-cv-09600
On April 6, 2016, the Court granted final approval to the class action settlement. All funds from the settlement have been distributed to the class members.
On December 15, 2014, Keller Rohrback L.L.P. filed a proposed class action complaint against Sony Pictures Entertainment, Inc. on behalf of former and current Sony employees affected by the company’s data breach. On March 5, 2015, Keller Rohrback L.L.P. was named Interim Co-Lead Class Counsel and Liaison Counsel.
Plaintiffs in the case alleged that Sony failed to secure and protect its computer systems, servers, and databases, resulting in the release of the named plaintiffs and other class members’ full names, Social Security numbers, home addresses, and other personal information, putting those employees at risk.
