Patients Infected With Hepatitis C at MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup

When you enter the hospital as a patient, you are at your most vulnerable – you are trusting doctors and nurses to do what is in your best interests. Recently, a nurse at MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital allegedly violated that trust. Nurse Cora Weberg is accused of tampering with, and has admitted to stealing, injectable pain medications and putting the health and safety of over 2,600 patients at risk for blood-borne pathogens, such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV.

On May 11, 2018, Keller Rohrback L.L.P. and Sauder Schelkopf filed a class action lawsuit against MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Washington on behalf of patients impacted by this exposure. The complaint alleges that MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital negligently hired and inadequately supervised emergency department nurse Cora Weberg.

The investigation was prompted by the public safety alert from MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital urging over 2,600 of its patients, who were treated at the hospital between August 2017 and March 2018, to get tested for Hepatitis C and other blood-borne pathogens. Nurse Weberg reportedly infected patients after stealing injectable narcotics for her own use, then used the same needles on patients.
