Keller Rohrback Investigates Claims Wells Fargo Improperly Froze or Closed Customers’ Accounts After Suspicious Activity
UPDATE: September 20, 2019 – Keller Rohrback is now investigating reports that not only did Wells Fargo in improperly freeze and close customer accounts without warning, it has also been wrongly charging its customers overdraft fees on these improperly “closed” accounts, sometimes to the tune of thousands of dollars. Senator Elizabeth Warren has called for regulators to investigate this matter.
Keller Rohrback L.L.P. is investigating reports that Wells Fargo froze or closed customers’ checking accounts when signs of fraud or suspicious activity appeared, leaving customers without access to their money.
Rather than investigate suspicious account activity, a former Wells Fargo employee says the bank dropped customers and closed their accounts, often with little notice to the customer. As a result, customers say they were unable to access funds to pay bills or other debts. They also experienced difficulties opening new accounts.
