Keller Rohrback L.L.P. Investigates Volvo XC90 T8 Hybrids

Keller Rohrback L.L.P. is investigating whether Volvo may have misled consumers about the electric-only economy of XC90 T8 Plug-in Hybrid. Consumers may have paid a premium for an electric motor that does not perform as advertised.

As a seven-passenger sport utility vehicle with both a gasoline tank and an electric battery, the XC90 T8 allows three modes of driving: electric, hybrid, and gas. Volvo has represented that the XC90 T8 can drive more than 40km [24.85 miles] using only electricity, which would allow many drivers to commute daily using only the charge stored in the electric battery and without using any gas. However, recent testing has revealed that the vehicle only achieves 40-58% of the advertised electric-only range.

“Buyers of Volvo’s hybrid cars wanted to make earth-conscious choices and believed the manufacturer’s representations about the range they would get from these car’s electric batteries,” said attorney Amy Williams-Derry. “The difference between the represented 25 miles and the cars’ actual battery life is astonishing and a real breach of the consumer’s trust.”
